This piece is more closely tied with the 2015 collection. It’s a revisiting of a one off piece called Flow. It challenges the balance of a figure and adds a third point of contact in an acrobatic pose. It was sculpted in the wax and cast directly into bronze.
This piece is a one off and is born from a series of three. She was sculpted in wax and cast straight into bronze. You will never see another. She was created in a time of introspection, of exploring the door to the dark times of the soul and the emerging from those dark times. In exploring our darkness we find the light, the limitless, the boundless. She planted the seed for the more recent exploration into the human emotion. The core was kept, the torso, it is exhibited on a rod, removed from its grounding and challenged to tell its tale, share its emotion.

She was created in a time of introspection, of exploring the door to the dark times of the soul and the emerging from those dark times. In exploring our darkness we find the ego more often than not and this little piece is a tribute to the conceited ego in us all. She planted the seed for the more recent exploration into the human emotion. The core was kept, the torso, it is exhibited on a rod, removed from its grounding and challenged to tell its tale, share its emotion.

This piece is of Anneke Bester’s exploration into the human expression. She takes the human form and uses it to portray the inner-workings of the heart, creating a contra pose between internal and external. In magnification of day to day body language, Anneke twists and bends the human form to reconcile our emotion with our appearance. Cultural Cornerstone explores the forms created in dance and exaggerate it. She uses the male form and places him in a festive pose to focus our attention on the theatricality of day today life. He is well dressed yet in a pose not suited to his attire.
